Ten years ago, Noel was headed to a concert when a guy on the street handed her a heavy metal album. His name was Derek, and he happened to be heading to a different show. That night Noel and Derek went their separate ways, but soon thereafter they began attending shows and collecting records together. Neither of them had known it at the time, but the album Derek had given Noel was only the first of hundreds he would gift to her over the next 10 years–and that brief moment, when two strangers passed one another on the street, would turn into a lifelong relationship. Let’s call it fate. Noel & Derek will marry this December and we couldn’t be more excited to get to document their memories.
We met up with Noel and Derek the other day at their home in Oxnard’s Historic District. Built in 1931, their sweet yellow house oozes charm–and an abundance of records. We were pumped to spend some time amongst Noel & Derek’s collection of books and vinyl, and take a walk around their neighborhood. Noel & Derek–thank you so much for inviting us into your home and allowing us to capture you in your element. You’re both incredibly kind and we’re so looking forward to your big day. :) –Much love, A & N
